Born: September 24, 1934, Waco, Texas, USA
Died: August 23, 1994, Huntsville, Texas, USA

Fisher Tull is one of the composers who got me hooked on contemporary concert band music, when I played his Toccata as a student. He wrote a number of fine works for band, but little has made it to CD yet. Sketches on a Tudor Psalm, based on the same melody that Vaughan Williams uses in his Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis, is probably his "greatest hit." Corporon's rendition is my favorite recording of Tull's band music on commercial CD. The Variants on an Advent Hymn is an earlier brass ensemble work included as part of nice CD of band music from the Keystone and IUP Wind Ensembles.
