Born: January 20, 1894, Rockland, Maine, USA
Died: November 12, 1976, Belmont, Massachusetts, USA

Tunbridge Fair, like Peter Mennin's Canzona, is a 5-minute classic that packs a lot of music into its short duration. The Concerto for String Quartet was his last completed piece and is a noteworthy contribution to the wind ensemble literature. I've not heard Ehrling's version, but Schwarz and company do a fine job in their all-Piston CD also featuring the Suite from The Incredible Flutist.
