Ron NelsonOverview - Recordings - Scores - Books - Links Ever since Rocky Point Holiday appeared, performers and audiences alike have delighted to Ron Nelson's works for band. The Dallas Wind Symphony's Holidays and Epiphanies CD devoted to Nelson's band music is the obvious place to start. The performances and recording are brilliant, including what has to be the speediest Rocky Point on record. The comprehensive program notes by Frank Byrne are a model for CDs everywhere. It's no wonder that this is #1 on our Amazon Top 10 favorite CDs of eConcertBand.com readers. Holidays and Epiphanies concentrates on Nelson's compositions from the 1990's. Perhaps someday another of Nelson's major works, the Medieval Suite, will make it to CD. Susan Kane's solo soprano on the Corporon/Cincinnati Aspen Jubilee sounds even better than the small women's chorus on the Dallas recording. Pebble Beach Sojourn makes a fine contribution to Pomp & Pipes, an excellent CD of works for organ and band. Recordings
