Ingolf Dahl's two large-scale works for band, the Sinfonietta and Concerto for Alto Saxophone, are both delightful and important mid-20th century contributions to the emerging band repertoire. We now have two recordings of the Sinfonietta to enjoy. Early recordings of both these works have not yet made it to CD, and recent recordings of the Concerto are unfortunately no longer available. Fans of the composer should get these recordings while they can!
